What Is the Service?

Learning Space and Digital Classroom Support provide technical assistance for the audiovisual and IT equipment in MSU classrooms. When technology issues arise during classes, MSU IT analysts respond promptly to troubleshoot and resolve the problem, ensuring minimal disruption to teaching and learning activities. Support for this service includes:

  • On-Site Support: Analysts provide fast assistance for classroom technology issues.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Regular checks and updates to classroom equipment.
  • Consultation and Training: Guidance on using classroom technology effectively.

Service Offerings Available by Request:

  • Request Classroom Support
    Faculty and staff members can report issues they have encountered in a classroom to request assistance from the Academic Technology Support teams.
  • Classroom Software
    MSU IT manages about 30 computer labs and close to 350 technology classrooms across campus accessed by students, faculty, and staff using their MSU NetID. (See the computer lab locations and hours.) Faculty and instructors can request additional software for specific teaching needs.
  • Health College Classroom and Event Support
    AV support for HHP classrooms, lecture halls and small group rooms, including CBT support and iClicker information. If you don't have access to the HHP instance of TDX, use the service listed below to request that.
  • Health College TDX Account
    Request access or group memberships in the Michigan State University Health Sciences instance of TeamDynamix (TDX).

Who Is Eligible to Use It?

Classroom Support is available to all MSU faculty, instructors, and teaching staff utilizing university classrooms equipped with IT or AV technology.

How Do I Use It?

To access Classroom Support:

  • Report an issue by contacting the MSU IT help desk via the IT Help Button located on the host computers in the classrooms, by phone, or through the online portal.
  • Analysts will be dispatched to the classroom to resolve the issue.
  • For recurring concerns or to request training, submit a ticket with the request.

Computerlab users are local Administrators on the computer and have full rights to install new software or plug-ins on the computer. However, upon logout, all changes made to the computer will be erased.
Most computer labs have a standard set of applications available, but some software has limited availability.

To enforce social distancing, certain computer lab machines have been locked remotely. There are physical signs on the computers as well. If someone tries to access the machine anyway, they will get this message.
Following these instructions will operate the cameras in these rooms and enable you to record your lectures.
