Data Science

Technology, tools and support for using Enterprise Generative AI platforms and development environments. Support services include chatbot and prompt creation assistance, as well as assistance with Generative AI application development. (See Generative AI Platforms below for the current list of supported Generative AI Platforms).

Enterprise Data Warehouse

Enterprise Data Warehouse provides access to a central data repository used for the collection and sharing of university related data. MSU’s enterprise data warehouse is commonly known as the MSUEDW and resides on an Oracle database.  It provides data that can be used to support the reporting, data analysis and general data needs of the university. The MSUEDW collects data from the university’s business systems (HR, Payroll, Finance, Organizational, IPF), student systems (Campus Solutions, D2L), research systems (KCRA, Contract Grants) and various other supporting applications and data sources.

Enterprise Reporting

Technologies and tools that support converting raw data into actionable insights, find trends, and prescribe certain courses of action. Specific tools supported include: Cognos, Tableau, and Power BI.

Generative AI Platforms

Enterprise Generative AI Platform offerings for the University, including, but not limited to, M365 Copilot, Google Gemini and associated tools, OpenAI and associated tools.

Business Intelligence Platform Support

This is an internal only service that supports our BI and reporting teams in ES.  The BI Platform Support service is responsible for the administration and operations of the IBM BI platforms including Cognos and Tableau.
